Blaming the Rich

I guess I'll never understand why anyone wants to blame someone else for their misfortune. Especially in the US of A. Right now we have people protesting Wall Street. Wall Street? Really? What has Wall Street done to any of these people? They blame the banks, the government, the last adminstration, this administration, their neighbors, their spouse, their parents, their schooling (or lack of it), their last employeer.

Really, look in the mirror. Where you're at and where you are in life is your choice. Whether it is a conscious decision or an unconscious decision, it is a decision non the less. I have 5 people in my immediate family and they are all employed (and don't you dare throw the minority card at me because I have an answer to that as well.)

The big problem is laziness in this country. I'll bet almost half of the unemployed have, at the least, cable and a game system. Probably are fans of Meet the Kardashians and never forget to vote for the "Next American Idol". Yet they complain because they can't find a job. Like cousin Eddy in Christmas Vacation, they're holding out for a management position.

I would think that if the people that are protesting Wall Street right now had jobs they wouldn't be protesting Wall Street or even have time to do it. With the likes of my favorite people Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon, these unbathed folks complain because Wall Street and banks are ruining their way of life. I've got news for you, the only ones ruining your way of life is you. Change your attitude, put in some applications, and get started on your new and rewarding life. The only person holding you back is YOU!

Keep plugging away!

It's interesting that sometimes it seems that the walls are closing in on you and there's now way out. When those times happen you need to remember to stay the course. Keep doing what you know is right and you will always succeed! Many times it will seem as though your are at the end of your rope when, really, you are just at the beginning. Keep the faith, keep fighting the good fight and, eventually, it will pay off.

Our timing is not God's timing. I had a friend tell me one time, "I wish God was on my schedule." But we need to realize that the only timing that is PERFECT is God's timing. Just remember that God is in control and as long as you are seeking and following his will, his timing is perfect. So keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight!!

Eat that Frog - Brian Tracy

I just started listing to the cd Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy again. One thing I have learned is that you really can't get everything out of a book or cd by just reading or listening to it one time. I really think I'm going to apply the ABCDE method of time management mentioned in this cd. It's really sounds like it can help me to be more organized and concentrate on the things that are important.

In a nut shell, this is taking all of the projects that you need to do and put them in categories A being the ones that will have serious consequences if you don't finish them. Like getting a report to your boss. B items are ones that only have mild consequences. C items are ones that would be nice to do but have no consequences. D items are ones that you can delegate and E items are ones that you can eliminate and it wouldn't make any difference at all.

Basically you make a list and then categorize each item with whatever letter best describes that item then you start with the A items and work your way down. My problem is that I spend more time on the C items because they are things I want to do (like posting this blog!) and not enough time on A and B items.

While doing research for this blog I ran across a PDF file of the book Eat that Frog so here's the link. The chapter that I've discussed here is chapter 5 and it starts on page 39.

Jazz Festival at Packard Music Hall Tonight

I was watching TV earlier this week when I caught an ad for Packard Music Hall and the Jazz Festival happening on the 14th. It featured some high school bands as well as the Packard Jazz Band. I asked Sue and my father in law to go with me and so we went tonight.

I must say I miss playing the trumpet, especially after listening to the bands tonight. Boy was it a lot of fun to go and hear some of the high schools play. I'm not going to be to critical with the high school jazz band, only to say there was one school I thought would be better than all the others and it was quite the opposite. The were the only school I was really disappointed in.

I would say the the Boardman Jazz Band had to be the best out of the 4 high school bands that were there and the director was a lot of fun to watch direct. It was also the first time I got to hear the Packard Jazz Band and they were fantastic! If you get a chance to see them I would highly recommend it! The best thing of all is that the concert was completely free. Below is a little picture I put together.

Everything Works Out

Just got a call from my District Manager, Adam Ernst, about one of my dealers that we have had some problems with because of a previous rep. What was going on was that the dealership didn't feel that they were serviced properly from the previous rep and was threatening to cancel because of it. Well, after some discussion with our Regional Manager, Bruce Lenhoff, they were able to work out the details and we will be signing them up on Monday on the new 2011 package. I was starting to fret over this but it all worked out in the end.

And again, Romans 8:28 is reinforced, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Praise God yet again!!

Time Management Here I Come

Something I have always had a problem with was time management. I've always wanted to be more organized and be a good stewart of my time. Unfortunately I still have a long way to go to be better with my time. So this week I'm going to training for time management. I hope this will help me to not only organize my time by also give me the opportunity to free up some time. I'll let you know how it goes after Wednesday, if I have Time!

The I'ds of March

I love the krokus' (I think that right, plural of the flower krokus is krokus' right? Or is it krokus and a single flower is a kroki?) and the daffodils of spring. I love the fact that it's getting warmer outside and the robins are visible once again. I even am reminded of summer by the smell of a dead skunk in March! Yes, there are many reasons to love March but there are a few "I'ds" that I put together that I think you all may agree with.

  1. I'd rather not have all the rain/snow/rain. I have four dogs and my back yard looks like a big mud pie. Every time I let the dogs out we have to wipe of their feet because they are traipsing around in a bunch of mud. Now there's nothing wrong with mud, if you didn't have mud women couldn't get mud packs to make themselves feel better. Still don't understand how that works. Do they look at the mirror with all that mud on their face and then, when the mud's all cleaned off do they say, "WOW, I'm really am a lot more beautiful without all the mud on my face!" Another good thing about mud is female mud wrestling. Now I've never been to one of these events but I've heard that they're a lot of fun. No, there's nothing wrong with mud, I would just rather not be wiping it off of my dogs feet every couple hours.
  2. I'd like to keep the clocks on one time all throughout the year. We all love the "fall back" thing. We get an extra hours sleep! But boy do we regret that "fall back" when we have to "spring ahead". We loose a hours sleep, ahhh!! By the way, contrary to common understandings, Ben Franklin did not start daylight savings time, although, when he was in France he suggested that people get up early and go to bed early to save on candles. The daylight savings was started by George Vernon Hudson to reduce the amount of electric lighting used at night. Oh yeah, and many people thought it was for the farmers but actually, some reports say that this hinders farmers more than helps them. I say let's keep the clocks on one time and use up that electricity! We need more global warming anyway, at least here in Ohio!
  3. I'd prefer to start a diet and exercise program once in the new year and not get to March and hear these words on radio and TV, "Now at McDonalds, for a limited time, Shamrock Shakes". And it's not bad enough that they come out with the Shamrock Shake in March but now they put whipped topping and a cherry on top as well. Great way to break a diet. But we can't blame it all on McDonalds because guess what opens in March after being closed for a long winter. THE DAIRY QUEEN! Now every blizzard known to man can be purchased and don't forget the banana split! But McDonalds and Dairy Queen both take a back seat to the most evil thing to ever come about to ruin a diet. You seen them every year in March but the order start way before that. They are evil, they are relentless and they hate everything about diets. They are, THE GIRL SCOUTS. With their thin mints and peanut butter sandwiches they will ruin all that you've worked for. I swear, they want to keep the nation nice and plump. Because then they will be the only thin ones. The young girls with all the metabolism to burn the calories from those girl scout cookies.

Well so much for the "I'ds" of March and I know you all feel the same way I do. At least all of you that have a few pounds to loose like me!
